The Snipe Midwinter Championship marked another victory for Augie Diaz and Kathleen Tocke.  The regatta, hosted annually bl Clearwater Yacht Club is the first event in the Snipe Class Winter Circuit.  This year, there was large international contingent as teams begin to gear of for the Pan American Games this summer. Freestyle Camp in Bonaire

Following the Miami World Cup, Kathleen packed her equipment and headed to a freestyle camp in Bonaire (Netherlands Antilles).  Unlike fleet racing done in the RSX Class, freestyle windsurfing is not about tactics and speed.  It focuses on agility, finesse, and the highest levels of board handling, sailing that is more akin to the X-Games, than the Olympics. Cross-Training in the Mountains

What does a sailor do with some time off after a big regatta?  Rest?  No, Kathleen headed to Tarvisio on the border of Italy, Austria, and Slovenia for some autumn hiking in the Alps.  The cool air, altitude, and brisk pace make it ideal for getting the heart rate up and the view is pretty spectacular too.

Diaz & Tocke Qualify for Pan American Games

This Monday in San Diego, Kathleen and Augie Diaz qualified to represent the United States at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, July 10 – 19.  This is the second trip to the Games for the team.  They earned a silver medal in the last Games held in Mexico in 2011.  The Pan American Games is an International Olympic Committee (IOC) event held every four years in the year preceding the Olympic Games.   The US is only sends one boat per class to the Games.  […]
